LFCE Faculty Profile: John Flood

Certified Project Management Leader Delivers on the Triple Constraint of Program Management

John Flood is currently the Director of Quality for the Personal Communications Sector in Motorola.

He is the liaison between manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and marketing and is responsible for all facets of product development, manufacturing ramp plan, capacity planning, and marketing introduction/pricing of new strategic products.

John provides leadership, coordination, and control that is necessary to ensure each program is in accordance with the triple constraint of program management: on time, according to specifications, and within budget.

John has been with Motorola for over 10 years, and has progressed through the production management ranks, beginning as a production supervisor in 1993 and culminating in his current position.


Prior to working for Motorola, John was a Commissioned officer in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm. As part of his executive staff responsibilities, John prepared and presented daily briefings for General Officers, civilians, and foreign dignitaries. In addition, he commanded a company of 120 soldiers.

John holds a Masters in Business Administration from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, and a Masters Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University.

As an adjunct faculty member for Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, John received the Distinguished Faculty Award for 2004, an honor bestowed upon him by the LFGSM students. Students choose one faculty member each year to receive this honor.


In addition, John received the Distinguished Faculty Award for 2008 from Lake Forest Corporate Education. This award is given to a faculty member with outstanding evaluations from classroom participants.
