New Research Takes Finance Professionals Beyond the Numbers

For the past several months, LFCE and the Center for Corporate Financial Leadership (CCFL) have teamed up on an important research project.

This collaborative and multi-pronged effort aims to bring new focus on the professional development of finance experts: examining the broad spectrum of influence they create in their organizations when they expand their roles to become true business partners.

In many corporations and institutions, finance professionals serve diligently in traditional roles of governance, managing risk, and enforcing policy. Today, more than ever, they are challenged to broaden their business acumen to serve as partners in creating great organizations.

For this project, LFCE and CCFL have interviewed nearly 70 people, including CFOs, CEOs, HR directors, mid-level and senior-level finance professionals, and finance recruiters. Hundreds more have been surveyed.

The results? LFCE and CCFL have identified five critical focus areas for finance professionals and several best practices for transitioning an organization’s finance team from typical to optimal. These insights will be unveiled through special events and a comprehensive white paper.
